We create to inspire heroism

In June of 2010, BloodCenter of Wisconsin re-evaluated its need for O-Negative blood and, to meet growing demand, raised its weekly the goal by 6%. Donations had been down for months, and BloodCenter of Wisconsin knew it had to find a new way to motivate people to donate.

They turned to Jigsaw, and we created and executed a transmedia storytelling campaign that encouraged people to “save a life today” by donating blood. Videos, digital outdoor, radio and social networks were used to spread the word. The BloodCenter’s marketing department gave additional campaign support with e-mail blasts, direct mailings and special messaging on www.bcw.edu.

The campaign was a tremendous success. The O-Negative messaging during July and August helped BloodCenter of Wisconsin surpass their goal, peaking at 15% over goal during the week of July 25th, 2010. This increase in donations also brought in an average of 23 first-time donors to the BloodCenter of Wisconsin each week. Now, they can reach out to 229 more donors and ask them to help save even more lives by donating again.
