Jigsaw’s Boys & Girls Club Adventure

“How did it get so late so soon? It’s night before its afternoon. December is here before its June. My goodness how the time has flewn. How did it get so late so soon?”– Dr. Seuss

Time is precious. And so are children. Even when they both get messy. This holiday season, the Jigsaw team hit the pause button on the chaos of work and life and everything else to spend time making a mess with a group of charismatic, creative, crazy-smart kids at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee.

Together, in a single afternoon, we made 50 sparkly, gluey, sequined, beaded and bedazzled Christmas ornaments. Jigsaw also made friends with 25 fantastic K5 through fifth grade students who attend school at Allen-Field Elementary on W. Lapham Blvd. in Milwaukee.

The kids had fun guessing our ages and making fun of our poor Spanish-language skills (all except Alex, who is fluent). Conversations over crafting somehow turned into a productive breakdancing session. Under our watch, several kids wound up decorated and more glittery than the ornaments. But the best part of our day with the Boys & Girls Clubs was spending time on a cold winter afternoon getting to know each other. The kids taught us much more than we taught them—and for that, we are eternally grateful.

Our Christmas wish to all of our colleagues, friends and clients is to have some real time to cherish and enjoy in 2017.

Happy Holidays!
