The $4 million magazine – a special edition of the September issue of Vogue
The September issue of Vogue contains a whopping 665 ad pages. But not the issue created by Seoul-based designer Joseph G. Davies. Using a black marker and some X-acto knives, Davies removed all the advertisements from the magazine and listed it on Craigslist for the amount that those ad pages cost, using Vogue’s own media rate cards to arrive at the sum. The final tally: $4,447,847.53.
As remarkable as that figure is, it’s almost as hard to believe that the advertiser-subsidized price consumers will pay for the magazine at retail still comes to $12. Fashion has its price.
