You've never seen a drivers' manual like this – Audi's impressive use of augmented reality
In a remarkably helpful and cool use of digital technology, Audi has unveiled an augmented reality iPhone app to help its cars’ owners figure out what all the dials, buttons, switches and components in their cars do and how they work, both inside the cabin and under the hood.
All the user has to do is turn on her iPhone camera, then hold the phone over what she wants more information about. In moments, a detailed explanation appears on her screen to explain, say, how to put a favorite station in memory, or where the car’s coolant expansion tank is.
It’s a very smart use of technology, and it sure beats flipping through a paper manual hoping to find what you need.
